I can't believe school starts tomorrow! The past two weeks I've been busy planning and preparing for the school year! I'm as ready as I'll ever be.
It's amazing how much has changed in four years! My first year... I was so nervous to begin... I remember I could hardly talk when the kids filtered in my room. Now, the kids will probably want me to be quiet. ;) haha
I've got some fun activities planned for the first week. Especially, the STEM' boat activity. I modified it from something I found online (to focus more on team work and collaboration rather than science). My students will be given three sheets of aluminum foil and in 20 minutes asked to create the strongest boat possible. Then we'll test the boats to see how strong they are using loose change! :) I've also got an A-Z classroom scavenger hunt, Would you rather questionnaires, and MEMES class rules (this is probably going to be hilarious!) - this is something new I created. If you don't know what memes are... Google it! I'm taking pictures of myself and having the kids create student rules I need to follow after I share memes that I created for them to follow. Always worth a shot to try something new! I also have a few projects planned including a "I am poem Jersey" for 6th grade and a "soundtrack of my life" iPod for 7/8th grade. :) should be a busy but productive week!! Can't wait to meet my kids and get started!
