7th Grade: Maniac Magee, 8th Grade: Freak the Mighty, and 6th Grade: Bridge to Terabithia--- Anticipation Pre-Reading questions...
After each statement students choose whether they agreed, disagreed or were "in the middle". They then did a "turn and talk" to explain their reasoning. Some students were randomly selected to share their viewpoints with the class. :) this was very engaging and I love how every student willingly participated!
Although, this was the same anticipation activity for all three grades... ALL statements were different based on their text. Also, many statements for 8th were very "H.O.T" (higher order thinking)!
Good way to start in re2015! :)
For language, we watched "20 things you should say more often" by Kid President. His nickname is Soul Pancake! The kids were really engaged and started brainstorming a list of 20 things they are going to change, see or do more in 2015. Then they had to make a list of 15 things they would avoid!
Tomorrow we will be narrowing our lists to make a mobile!!
Fun start to the new year !
