This summer has been incredibly busy!! Conferences, packing a house - selling a house - buying a house- unpacking and buying new furniture to go in the new house... You get the picture!
Through all the chaos - I did get to do one thing I absolutely LOVE to do... UPCYCLE! ;)
I love to take junk and turn it into works of art! Or, take quality pieces of furniture and put some of my 'pizzazz' into them! It's time consuming and my husband gets a little irritated that my garage usually turns into a junk yard... BUT! It's probably my favorite hobby of all! Hopefully, when things calm down I'll be able to do more!
Below are pictures of one project I was able to complete (before the move) for my niece, Savannah!
It all began when I found a desk that lacked personality at a garage sale for $10.00!
I used some elbow grease and scrubbed it until it was in better shape! ;)
With the help of my hubby, I removed all parts and spray painted with a plastic primer first.
Then I sprayed a 'plastic friendly' spray paint over it. I let this sit for a day to 'cure'. Finally, when the coats of spray paint were completely dried, I sprayed an outdoor acyrlic clear coating over it!
The clear coating gives it a really great glossy finish for an easy clean up! After doing two coats and letting it sit for a day... It was finally done!!
As you can tell, she absolutely loves it! Best 2nd Birthday gift given!! :))
What are some of your summer highlights?
