The week before spring break we celebrated the arrival of the new season by learning about two types of Japanese poetry; Haiku's and Cinquains (sing-kayne).We read and created a few about Sping/Easter.
The works of art & poems were modified from Pinterest art finds & TPT! (The bird is a freebie called "Spring Cinquain freebie")
Kids were engaged and so excited to do some art! :)
7th grade reviewed narrative writing by completing a "Peep" writing activity. This was open ended. I love differentiated projects where the kids can choose the type of writing structure! :) I am always impressed by my kids creativity and even more amazed when they recall the variety of narrative structures we've covered!
I had examples of 1st person accounts, basic third person fiction, plenty of dialogue, myths, tall tales, tons of figurative language, interviews, fables... It's always the activities you think they are going to hate that they love!! ;)
(Writing for a variety of purposes is so important and provides oppportunities for authentic learning!)
Below are samples of my students work! :)
Until next time,
